In 2008, after having sold his shares of Umbrella in New York, Darío set his sights on opening a nightclub in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and approached two known drug traffickers residing in the big city. One was named Enrique Rodríguez, nicknamed Talíco, and the other Joaquín, known as Joaquincito, the latter hailing from the city of San Francisco de Macorís, the same city Darío came from.
Of the two drug traffickers, the more ‘heavy duty’—powerful—was Talíco, as not long ago he was one of the most trusted men of the famous convicted drug trafficker Quirino Ernesto Paulino, known as ‘El Don’, whom he represented as the leader of one of his most important cells in New York.
